Condition and conservation
Describe the specimen rather than assigning an abbreviation alone.
Signs that need description
Folds, wear, stains, tears, losses, writing and signs of intervention require intelligible descriptions. Record location and extent where observable; a condition abbreviation does not replace these details.
Scales have context
Terminology varies between references. Identify the system used and do not assume equivalence between abbreviations, numbers or third-party qualifiers. An educational table does not establish Banknote methodology or determine a price.
