Issue and specimen
Issuer identifies the issuing authority; denomination is the printed face value; series and signatures may distinguish varieties. Obverse and reverse are the two faces. Substrate carries the printing. A catalogue reference identifies a bibliographic description.
Condition and documentation
Condition describes the specimen; preservation seeks to reduce deterioration. A receipt records a request; an opinion sets out scoped observations and conclusions; a certificate requires authorised approval and issue. None of these terms alone means price or guaranteed authenticity.
Different questions
Identification attributes an issue using references; authentication concerns whether a particular specimen is genuine. Examination records scoped observations; a commercial valuation addresses value at a stated date. One result does not automatically supply the others.
